The Research and Faculty Development Committee (RFDC) of the College of Business Administration is pleased to encourage undergraduate and graduate to submit their research papers to be considered for presentation in a poster session at the 2015 Spring Research Day (Friday April 17, 2015, 12:00-1:00 p.m.). As in previous years, this Research Day is intended to encourage students’ participation and involvement in research, as well as collaboration with COBA faculty members.
To encourage student participation, the RFDC will award the following prizes to students with the top papers in three different categories: Undergraduate; Masters; and Ph.D. students.
- First Place: $500 (only one first-place prize per paper in each category)
- Second Place: $200 (up to four second-place prizes per paper in each category)
The deadline for paper submissions is Wednesday, March 25, 2015, 5:00 p.m. CST. All submissions must adhere to the guidelines presented below.
Student Presentations at the Spring Research Day Event
At least one student author of every accepted submission must present their research work in the form of a poster presentation on the Research Day Event (Friday, April 17, 2015; 12:00pm – 1:00pm).
Each submission must adhere to the following rules.
English is the language of the conference and of all submissions.
Submissions to CSRD 2014 must be original; papers that have been published or accepted for publication in a journal or conference proceedings are not eligible. Papers presented at other conferences are also ineligible, with the exception of papers presented by undergraduate students at the UTPA Undergraduate Research Conference. Students must be listed as the lead author on all submissions. Collaboration with faculty is encouraged but not required.
All submissions must be in Portable Document Format (PDF). Save your submission using this format: “name_CSRD_2015_category” where name is the first author’s last name, and where category is either undergraduate, masters or PhD.
Research papers must not exceed twenty (20) double-spaced pages in a 10-12 point font with one-inch margins. These 20 pages include all text, figures, tables, and appendices. The cover page, abstract, keywords, and references are excluded from this page count.
Number of Submissions
Students are only permitted to submit one (1) research paper for consideration. Students listed on multiple submissions will be immediately disqualified from the competition.
COBA Faculty Member Participation
Students are encouraged, but not required to collaborate with COBA faculty members. The first author of the paper must be a COBA student.
