Teaching at CoBA

UTPA Faculty Make a Difference

As a UTPA faculty member, you can truly make a difference in the lives of your students. You’ll work with a student who spent a childhood as a migrant worker, one who already owns a business or one who sold gum on the streets of Mexico to help feed his family. Regardless of their background, you may be the key to helping students achieve their dreams.

As a CoBA faculty member you will be encouraged and supported in developing programs that will make a difference to our students, to the UTPA, to your discipline, and of course, to you. CoBA has six degree programs, two at the undergraduate level, three at the masters level and a Ph.D in Business Administration, all of which are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB International).

As of Fall 2010, CoBA had 2,642 students with 2,330 bachelor’s students, 247 master’s students and 65 doctoral students. These students are mentored by 60-full time faculty Ph.D faculty dedicated to research and student learning from five departments: Accounting and Business Law, Computer Information Systems and Quantitative Methods, Economics and Finance, Management and Marketing.

During 2010-2011, CoBA faculty were active in enhancing their disciplines by authoring more than 100 referred journal articles and serving as editors or on editorial boards of about 50 academic journals.

Most importantly, CoBA is comprised of great students. The students actively participate in a variety of local and national competitions and programs and are dedicated to pursuing an education to achieve their lifelong dreams. UTPA students are among the nicest, most courteous and family-oriented students you will find anywhere in the world.
