UTPA Faculty Make a DifferenceAs a UTPA faculty member, you can truly make a difference in the lives of your students. You’ll work with a student who spent a childhood as a migrant worker, one who already owns a business or one who sold gum on the streets of Mexico to help feed his family. Regardless of their background, you may be the key to helping some students achieve their dreams. As a College of Business Administration (CoBA) faculty member you will be encouraged and supported in developing programs that will make a difference to our students, to the UTPA, to your discipline, and of course, to you. The CoBA at UTPA has eight undergraduate degree programs, an MBA and a Ph.D. program, all of which are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB International). As of fall 2007, the CoBA had a total of 3,004 students with 2,653 bachelor’s students, 288 master’s students and 63 doctoral students. These students are mentored by 68-full time faculty dedicated to research and student learning from four departments: Economics and Finance, Accounting and Business Law, Computer Information Systems and Quantitative Methods and Management, Marketing and International Business. During 2007, CoBA faculty were active in enhancing their disciplines by authoring more than 116 referred journal articles and serving as editors or on editorial boards of 28 academic journals. Most importantly, CoBA is comprised of great students. You’ll meet students like Felix who works in his family business and founded the first chapter of the National Hispanic Professional Organization The students actively participate in a variety of local and national competitions and programs and are dedicated to pursuing an education to achieve their lifelong dreams. UTPA students are among the nicest, most courteous and family-oriented students you will find anywhere in the world. |
