The C.A.R.I.R. staff is available to assist students seeking assistance with undergraduate academic advisement, career counseling, referrals to student support services and internship/career opportunities. Students have the opportunity to explore employment opportunities – locally, nationally, and internationally. Fortune 500 firms and other major firms maintain a constant contact with C.A.R.I.R. and CoBA. As career opportunities become available, CoBA is contacted directly and the career opportunities are made available to the CoBA student population via various media outlets in the College of Business Administration. Position postings are posted on in-house bulletin boards, forwarded to CoBA faculty members via e-mail, displayed on CoBA video monitors and the CoBA web site. The C.A.R.I.R. office serves as a liaison for firms who would like to make employment/career opportunities available to CoBA students and graduates.

Academic advisement appropriate to chosen career fields is also available and literature is maintained for each of the departments in the Undergraduate programs.

Internships programs exist to enable students to obtain "real world" experience while enrolled as a CoBA student. These internships may be taken for college academic credit or experience only (non-credit). The internships are usually full-time during the summer months and part-time during the Spring and Fall semesters. As a norm, internships are compensated; but, a limited number of internships are not compensated. The internships which CoBA students undertake are local, national and in some cases international. The C.A.R.I.R. office serves as the liaison for firms that intend to officer CoBA student internships opportunities.

The C.A.R.I.R. office also serves as the unit for disseminating information and processing all application to the College of Business Administration. Students seeking information regarding the admission process to the College of Business Administration should visit the CoBA's admission page, http://porta.utpa.edu/utpa_main/daa_home/coba_home/coba_admissions/

Retention programs are under development to assure entering freshmen of success in obtaining their undergraduate degrees. This includes counseling, study skills, computer literacy and written communications skills.
