by Misael Martinez
PASS
July 2-4, 2009  8 pm
July 5, 2009 2 pm

A Hispanic family is confronted with a terminal illness from a loved one which leads them to view life differently. Consequently, the family members find themselves rushing through life, rather than enjoying it.

The Butler Did It (Closed)
by Walter and Peter Marks
PASS
July 9-11, 2009  8 pm
July 12, 2009 2 pm

The scene is the set where Anthony J. Lefcourt, writer and director, is rehearsing his new play, a
"classic whodunit" (in which all the characters are named Butler) with which he hopes to regain
the success that has eluded him in recent seasons. Desperately eager to stimulate his cast
to their best efforts, he has deliberately withheld the final scene of the play from them, but his
patience is worn thin by the petty jealousies and romantic rivalries that detract from their
concentration. In an effort to spur them on he "stages" the murder of one of the actresses, after
which the plot begins to twist and turn with such dazzling ingenuity—and hilarity—that soon actors
and audience alike have lost track of what is real and what is make-believe—until a surprise
ending sets matters straight in a most bizarre and ironic way.

Of Mice and Men (Closed)
by John Steinbeck
Mainstage
October 14-17, 2009 8 pm
October 18, 2009 2 pm

George and Lennie are a strange team of migratory farm laborers in the 1930’s Depressionera.
Lennie is a feeble-minded giant, totally dependent on his friend George. Their classic
story, adapted by Steinbeck from his 1937 novel, has remained one of the most compellingly
realistic treatments of the American dream caught in a defective social structure and the
tragic cruelty life can sometimes bring.

The Red and the Blue (Closed)
by Eric Wiley
Mainstage
November 18-21, 2009 8 pm
November 22, 2009 2 pm

Some things are more important than politics, as we see when a left-leaning woman crosses deep
into enemy territory. This new play is set in South Texas.

Staged Readings
Studio
December 11  2009 8 pm
December 13, 2009 2 pm

Two staged readings of  scripts in progress.  Come see these nearly finished projects as they are being heard by the scriptwriters for the first time.

December 11, The Designated Widow by Jack Stanley,  "A sex comedy in 2 acts"

December 13, Dead Day by David Carren, A film script.

Noises Off
by Michael Frayn
Mainstage
March 3-6, 2010 8 pm
March 7, 2010 2 pm

Noises Off is a comedy within a farce. It’s all slamming doors, mistaken actions — but nothing
is as funny on stage as it is off stage. Written by Michael Frayn, a novelist and playwright, what’s
supposed to be a British sex comedy on stage becomes an outrageous farce on more levels
than one back stage.

Faculty Favorites
Studio
March 26-27, 2010 8 pm
March 28, 2010 2 pm

Of the more than 50 student productions done in any given year, the faculty selects their favorites
to share with general audiences in this festival.  Come see the great work our students do, in
theatre, in television and in film.

Much Ado About Nothing
by William Shakespeare
Mainstage
April 21-24, 2010 8 pm
April 25, 2010 2 pm

Shakespeare’s classic comedy about the battle of the sexes, set south of the Rio Grande, is truly
about something - the human heart/el Corazon - and how it defines our relationships with others.

The Frog Prince
(children’s play)

retold by Dr. Brian Warren
Children's Theatre
May 6-8, 2010 7 pm
May 9, 2010 2 pm

A haughty Prince terrorizes the Village, until one magical woman has had enough. She
transforms the Prince into a frog to punish him.  Only the kiss of a good-hearted woman will
restore him to his true form. How can the green and slimy Frog Prince earn a kiss? Come to our
play, acted by local children, to find out!
