Ethics in Intelligence, Security, and Immigration: The Moral and Social Significance  of Gathering and Managing Information and Borders in the Global Community
November 20-22, 2008
The University of Texas-Pan American is strategically located along the U.S.-Mexico border region. Subjects related to intelligence gathering, global security and immigration are virtually found in our backyard; and, legislature implemented in our neighborhoods. This unique  geographical fact has increased interest in research and academic discussion on the many  challenges of intelligence gathering, national security and immigration.  As part of UTPA  International Week the conference will present views on the moral and social significance of national security challenges witnessed in the region. Hosts have gathered expertise from such areas as government, academia, and corporations to exemplify society’s diverse ethical points  of views over these security issues.
The conference will incorporate presentations of renowned keynote speakers and academic papers on subjects related to intelligence gathering, global security,  immigration, and private/public intelligence.
Keynote Speakers Include:
Ambassador Luis Alfonso De Alba - Permanent Representative of Mexico to the United Nations
Richard Horowitz - Attorney at Law
Dr. Jan Goldman - National Defense Intelligence College & Georgetown University
Chris Brisack - Texas Federal Immigration Judge (Personal Capacity)
Registration fee is not required and all are welcomed to attend.
Registration forms are attached and seating is limited. *Certificates of Professional Development will be awarded to all that attend.
