A native Chinese, Dr. Yanrong (Yvonne) Chang joined the UTPA Communication Studies faculty in the Fall of 2006 after teaching at the University of South Carolina-Aiken for four years.
Dr. Chang received her Ph.D. in Communication Studies in 2002 from the University of Iowa. Her dissertation, an ethnographic study of Chinese courtroom interactions, won the 2003 Dissertation Award from the Language and Social Interaction Division of the National Communication Association. Her B.A. in English Language and Literature and her M.A. in Linguistics were awarded in China. She enjoys teaching undergraduate courses in small group communication, persuasion, language and social interaction, intercultural communication, and interpersonal communication. She also teaches graduate courses in persuasion, culture and communication and a methods course in ethnography.
Dr. Chang has published in Discourse & Society, Communication Teacher, Intercultural Communication Studies, International Journal of Intercultural Relations, China Media Research, and Chinese Journal of Communication.
