Innovations in Online Learning

The Center for Online Learning, Teaching & Technology invites you to participate in the Fall 2012 Innovations in Online Learning Luncheons.

This series of presentations is offered to UTPA Faculty as an opportunity for professional development. Three live sessions are provided each semester covering the areas of teaching online, and how technology can enhance online learning. Lunch is provided for all participants.

To register for the series, or to select specific sessions, go to: training.utpa.edu and sign in using your UTPA username and password. Under “Class Listings” select “Active (open)” and locate the COLTT IOL listings, then click on Register. Once your registration has been received, you will be sent a confirmation and set of directions for logging in.

Exemplary Online Course Program

The Exemplary Online Course (EOC) Program is a grant-based initiative designed to provide motivation, tools, education, and support for faculty teaching fully online and hybrid courses at UTPA. This program will establish a standardized approach for the development and facilitation of online instruction that is based on nationally recognized best practices and promotes the highest level of quality in online education. Join us as we introduce this “quality” initiative and usher in a new era in online instruction at UTPA.

Understanding the important role that social networking plays in students’ lives and how effective it can be in higher education is the focus of this presentation. You are invited to join us for this exploration into ConnectYard, a centralized social media communications platform that seamlessly integrates Facebook, Twitter and video as well as text messaging with popular Learning Management Systems and portals to better engage students and expand overall institutional communication.
