FALL 2008
Join us at the Center for Online Learning, Teaching and Technology for personal training sessions on incredible software applications that will enhance the online experience for instructors and students. These “mini” training sessions are designed to quickly and easily orient participants with software programs that are compatible with the Blackboard Learning Management System that we use for online coursework.
Blackboard - is a Web-based course-management system designed to allow students and faculty to participate in classes delivered online or use online materials and activities to complement face-to-face teaching. Blackboard enables instructors to provide students with course materials, discussion boards, virtual chat, online quizzes, an academic resource center, and more.
Respondus - Creating quizzes and exams is often a time consuming task, but Respondus takes much of the difficulty out of it. With Respondus, instructors can import test questions from a word document, and the software program will convert the document to a format that is ready to upload to Blackboard- no more copy and pasting.
Wimba Live Classroom - Classes can still meet live and easily using the Live Classroom. Not only can they meet, but instructors can present audio lectures with PowerPoint, students can interact with audio, and participants can share desktops and contribute to the work all in this application. Instructors are able to track participants as well as insert polls to gain feedback from their students. If somebody can’t make it to class, that’s okay because the entire class can be archived. Live Classroom brings the classroom online.
Study Mate - this software application makes learning fun for students. Instructors have the ability to easily upload course materials into the Study Mate program. Then choose which interactive learning activities they would like. The options include flash cards, fill-in-the-blank, multiple choice, matching and more.
