The Center provides a broad array of technical assistance to start-up and existing cooperatives and mutually-owned businesses in order to improve their operating efficiency and their long-term sustainability. This will include assistance with organizational plans, feasibility studies, business plans, marketing plans, and capitalization plans.

  • Organizational Plans - Technical assistance provided to rural groups interested in forming cooperatives or mutually owned businesses.
  • Feasibility Studies - Technical assistance for a study to determine the feasibility and sustainability of a cooperative venture.
  • Business Plans - Technical assistance for a detailed plan of business operation, including pro-forma financial projections.
  • Marketing Plans - Technical assistance for a detailed plan for marketing cooperatives and mutually-owned businesses.
  • Capitalization Plans - Technical assistance to help secure business capital, including loan packaging and applications for USDA programs.

The Center also provides technical assistance on the use of key USDA strategies that include the development of local and regional food systems, renewable energy generation and energy conservation, broadband infrastructure, access to capital, and the innovative utilization of natural resources.
