UTPA RSTR PTAC & TAMACC Invite You to Sell Your Business via Government Contracting

Businesses interested in government contracting are invited to free workshops and a Procurement Matchmaking event during the 39th Annual Convention & Business Expo of the Texas Association of Mexican American Chamber of Commerce (TAMACC).  The three day convention, which features honorary Chairman State Senator Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa, will offer the business community a diverse and knowledgeable agenda of keynotes, workshops and networking opportunities.

Two workshops, “Strategic Planning to Diversify Your Business Opportunities with Federal, State, and Local Government Contracts” and “Rio Grande Valley Medical School and South Texas University of Texas Campuses”, are geared towards educating businesses on how to develop winning strategies to diversify your business into the Federal, State and local government markets and educating businesses on upcoming contracting opportunities that the new medical school and UT-RGV will bring.  The workshops feature UTPA Rio South Texas Regional Procurement Technical Assistance Center Program Director, Hector Landez and Program Coordinator, Orlando Castaneda.

Set for Friday, August 1st at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance, these, and other, workshops covers governmental procurement basics; how to build a good foundation to enter these markets, how to structure your business strategy to include these markets, and how to avoid the pitfalls.  Learn about the value of getting registered and certified in key areas to expand your revenue base and increase sales.

The Procurement Matchmaking Event will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014, from 8am-12pm at the Embassy Suites Hotel in McAllen, Texas.  This event will match businesses with contracting opportunities that are available to bid or for proposals.  UTPA Director of Procurement Management Alex Valdez, along with many representatives from every level of government, will be available to share contracting opportunities with any local business.  Don’t miss out on these chances to move your business forward!

There is no charge to attend the Business Expo, Workshops, or the Procurement Matchmaking events, but space is limited and registration is required. To register for these free workshops, please visit or

We exist to work you through the maze of governmental contracting!

PTAC provides technical services through trainings and one-on-one counseling to persons interested in obtaining contracts with local, state, and federal governmental entities. PTAC helps businesses obtain state and federal certifications and understand the contracting process.

The Procurement Technical Assistance Program (PTAP) was authorized by Congress in 1985 in an effort to expand the number of businesses capable of participating in the government marketplace. The UTPA PTAC has been in existence since 2009 and we have helped in obtaining over $15 million in contracts!

Administered by the Department of Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), the program provides matching funds through cooperative agreements with state and local governments and nonprofit organizations for the establishment of Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTACs) to provide procurement assistance.
