The Mission of the UTPA Business Development and Innovation Group is to provide business guidance and training to small business owners and to foster entrepreneurship and growth.

We are comprised of four centers: the Entrepreneurship Training Project, Rio South Texas PTAC, SBDC, & VBOC. From business training and trade to procurement and veteran-owned business assistance, our centers work closely together to deliver comprehensive, business development services to meet the needs of prospective or existing businesses. Rio South Texas PTAC

PTAC, or Procurement Technical Assistance Center, provides technical services to persons interested in obtaining government contracts at the local, state, and federal . If you are interested in selling to the government, Procurement Specialists at the UTPA Rio South Texas Regional PTAC can help you get started with free and confidential counseling!

SBDC

A Small Business Development Center is designed to provide the business owner with training, counseling, research, and other specialized, technical assistance at over 1,000 locations nationwide. The UTPA SBDC program is a cooperative effort by the private sector, educational community, and the public sector. It enhances economic development by providing small business with management and technical assistance. It is staffed with qualified, certified business advisors and training coordinators, all under the supervision of seasoned management. VBOC

The Veterans Business Outreach Center is funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration to provide technical assistance for veterans and reservists who want to start or expand a small business. The UTPA VBOC provides business training, counseling, technical assistance, and mentoring to veterans, reservist, National Guard, and active duty business owners and start-up candidates in the Southwest Central region of the United States of America.
