Climbing Wall

Climbing Competition

UTPA Climbing Wall is a fitness, teaching and recreational facility. The Wellness Complex promotes personal growth, teamwork, leadership, increased fitness, and recreational opportunities for the university community through climbing activities and programs. This facility offers the students and facility members an opportunity to learn and hone their climbing skills in a friendly, encouraging, and experienced climbing environment.

The 33 foot wall has a great deal of natural looking features along with handholds to assist climbers. Currently, there are three routes in the wall to accommodate novice and elite climbers. Climbing wall enthusiasts have described the UTPA climbing wall as one of the best in the state. Workshops on technique building and competitions are scheduled for each semester for the enjoyment of participants. All students enrolled at the University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) along with Faculty, Staff, Spouse, and Dependent (children 4-17) members are eligible to use the climbing wall. All climbers are required to sign a release waiver and a code of conduct prior to use.
